Hoisin sauce first appeared in Chinese cuisine. Hoisin literally means seafood. The traditional thick and pungent sauce itself contains no seafood but is made from soybeans, rice vinegar, chillies, garlic, and sugar. Hoisin Sauce is darkly coloured in appearance. The slightly sweet and spicy Flying Goose Hoisin Sauce is used both for the famous Chinese dish Peking duck as well as numerous grilled dishes, stews, and stir-fry dishes. In China Hoisin sauce is served with soups for flavoring and it is used frequently in vegetable stir-fries and marinades. Hoisin sauce is a great way to add an authentic Asian flavor and thickening color to a stir-fry or noodle dish. Try Flying Goose Hoisin Sauce as a dipping for vegetables, fish or meat.
