Sunchang Doenjang is a Korean fermented soybean paste. It is often compared to the Japanese Miso paste because they are both fermented soybean pastes. However, Doenjang only comes in one brown variant and is also made in a slightly different way. The basic ingredients for Doenjang are soybeans, water, salt and wheat. Fermentation creates a strong, sharp taste that gives your dish that typical umami flavour. Use Doenjang in Korean dishes such as ssamjang paste or as a marinade for meat.
