Star Anise is a very aromatic condiment of Asian cuisine and has a sweet spicy licorice flavor similar to anise. It often is added whole to soups, stews and braising broths, to which it adds a sweet licorice peppery flavor. You can grind whole star anise and let the exquisite flavors fully develop.
